Denver Health Corridor will be the premier life science hub of the Western United States that supports world-class medical treatment, applied research and education and medical technology companies that are leaders in the health industry of the future.

The Geography
The Denver Health Corridor covers the fast growing health economy of South Denver which is developing as a distinctive medical sub-market (area marked pink on the map). The Denver Health Corridor sub-market will seek to build and leverage strong linkages with other medical clusters in Colorado and in the wider world.
Steering Group
A Steering Group is responsible for setting and monitoring the priorities and work of the project through an annual Delivery Plan and bi-monthly meetings. Relevant organizations are welcome to join the Steering Group to help shape the project:

Priority Goals for the Corridor
Infrastructure:
– Support the development of state-of-the-art infrastructure, facilities and technology that will qualify Denver Health Corridor as a premier life science hub.
Service:
– Aspire to world-class standards of medical treatment and technology to showcase the area as an international center of medicine.
Business Development:
– Recruit future health leaders to foster the next generation of health and medical technology.
Education:
– Inspire the next generation of medical business and technology leaders through applied educational and networking opportunities.
Marketing & Communications:
– Elevate Denver Health Corridor’s brand and engender ownership among customers, partners, and stakeholders.
Government Relations:
– Work to secure favorable policies, regulations, and funding for partners, stakeholders and projects in the Health Corridor area.
Project Tasks (2011):
The aim is to keep the project focused on a select number of tasks that are deliverable:
- Co-ordinate business networking in the Corridor and around the region to support opportunities and projects that will strengthen the local health economy and local companies.
- Creating a clear, shared long-term vision for industry growth for the area – including a realistic analysis of the area’s comparative advantages and its opportunities for development.
- Identifying existing barriers to business growth – e.g. in terms of land use planning, infrastructure, skills/labor market – and the actions required to remove these barriers; and,
- ‘Selling’ the area, by generating a brand and a marketing plan for promoting the area to targeted companies and stakeholder groups nationally and internationally.
- Sharing information on funding opportunities and coordinating bids for state and federal funding as well as levering in private sector resources to support an agreed mission.

Based on discussions to date, the following list of items are suggested as key deliverables for 2011:
- Work to facilitate business development opportunities by networking among partner organizations in the Health Corridor area. Target: Support four new business opportunities.
- Complete an online survey and face-to-face interview program to map local industry assets, comparative advantages and opportunities review. Target: Publish Survey Results.
- Roadmap vision plans for Healthcare and Medical Education. Target: Two Roadmap Reports.
- Industry Workforce plan to identify areas of need and opportunity. Target: Workforce Plan.
- Marketing strategy, collateral, website and articles. Target: Develop Strategy and Marketing Kit for project ambassadors to use; Update Website; Magazine articles … starting with Hemispheres In-flight Magazine: “What is special about Denver’s Health Economy”.
- Health Corridor Shuttle Bus. Target: Work with TMA/DRCOG/RTD to get this in the projects pipeline.
